Tomorrow, December 3, we will be having a "Community Real-World Assignment" which may include some of the following tasks:
Your TREK ADVENTURE assignment for (Date TBA) is:
  • Visit a shopping mall
  • Interview a perfume salesclerk (Q&A)
  • Bring your findings to class
  • Make adjustment to your group's advertising campaign
  • Use the information to prepare your PowerPoint presentation
  • Practise your entire presentation (use a checklist as a rubric)
  • Invite another class to come for the final presentation (optional)
  • Ask for their feedback (use a checklist here as well)

TREK ADVENTURE 2: (If time allows!)
  • Go to the Winnipeg Public Library closest to your home
  • Apply for a library card if you do not have one yet
    • Search the library database for a book on Canada (suggestion: the youth section has colourful books about Canada and each of the provinces)
  • Use your library card to borrow this book (or books)
  • Bring it (them) to class on DATE T.B.A.
TREK ADVENTURE 3:
  • Go to a coffee shop or convenience store (7-Eleven, Tim Hortons, etc.)

  • Ask about their hiring process and if you can have a job application (you my show the RRC business card)
  • Write on a loose leaf from your classroom binder the questions you asked and the answers your received
  • Bring the application form and the page with your questions and answers to class on DATE T.B.A.
TREK ADVENTURE 4:
  • Call me between 1:00 and 2:50 p.m., and leave a message on my answering machine to let me know where you went, what you did, and how everything went.
